A Start into a New Future: LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH Takes Over DOMO Caproleuna GmbH’s Operations as of April 1, 2026
InfraLeuna GmbH and LEUNA-Harze GmbH, through the jointly established LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH, concluded a purchase agreement on March 31, 2026, with the insolvency administrator of DOMO Caproleuna GmbH for the acquisition of the assets of DOMO Caproleuna GmbH. The notarization took place on March 31, 2026. The transfer of the assets became effective on April 1, 2026.
InfraLeuna and LEUNA-Harze are fully aware of the importance of the site, its employees, and the reliable supply to customers. Both companies share a clear interest in jointly creating the foundation for a long-term, stable, and successful future – in the interest of the workforce, customers, and suppliers.
From the perspective of the site operator InfraLeuna, maintaining the integrated production network is a key priority. Dr. Christof Günther, Managing Director of InfraLeuna GmbH, explains: “With this acquisition, it has been possible to avert significant damage to the Leuna chemical site. The high efficiency of our energy and material integration will be maintained. This ensures that the competitiveness and attractiveness of our site remain intact – a key prerequisite for its further development and future growth.”
For LEUNA-Harze GmbH, the investment was a deliberate entrepreneurial decision. “Our primary objective was to prevent an industrial ruin. The investment in the new company was necessary and the right step. The close cooperation with InfraLeuna is crucial in enabling a viable future for the Leuna chemical site,” says Klaus Paur, Managing Director of LEUNA-Harze GmbH.
The new company places people at the center. Martin Naundorf, Managing Director of LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH, emphasizes: “Our most important goal is a return to profitability. With a strong and experienced team of former DOMO employees, as well as the committed support of colleagues from InfraLeuna, we will create long-term prospects for the site and its workforce.”
As part of the transition, employment prospects for the majority of the workforce have been secured. More than 430 jobs will be preserved through the acquisition.
The new company therefore has an experienced workforce, efficient facilities, and strong development prospects. The goal of LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH is to remain a reliable partner for customers both domestically and internationally. “This requires commitment, determination, and the support of all parties involved – but we are confident that this path will be successful,” adds Martin Naundorf.
The Minister-President of the State of Saxony-Anhalt, Sven Schulze, stated: “This is good news for Leuna and for our entire state, but above all for the employees of Domo. Together, we have found a viable solution. It shows that when everyone pulls together, we can secure industrial sites and shape the future of Saxony-Anhalt, even in challenging situations.
I would like to expressly thank all those involved – the company and its employees, the insolvency administrator, InfraLeuna, LEUNA-Harze, and all other stakeholders on site. This joint effort was decisive.
The state government also acted in close coordination. The State Chancellery, as well as the Ministries of Economic Affairs, Environment, and Finance, worked together closely and reliably. This collective commitment was an important part of the success.”
The insolvency administrator of DOMO Caproleuna GmbH, Prof. Dr. Lucas F. Flöther of the law firm Flöther & Wissing, expressed satisfaction with the investor solution: “With LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH, an investor has been found who will continue operations at the site and preserve a large portion of the jobs. The sale of the assets represents a positive conclusion to the insolvency proceedings. In particular, the preservation of jobs and the continuation of the site under new, sustainable structures are a good outcome for all parties involved.”
In the coming weeks, the necessary coordination processes will continue in a structured manner.
LEUNA - Polyamid GmbH will continue to keep employees, customers, and suppliers transparently informed about all key developments and relies on broad support on the shared path toward a new future.
